Types of forklifts

forklift truckForklifts - due to their type (model), we can distinguish several characteristic properties, thanks to which they are able to arrange the warehouse in a different way, in accordance with the manager's expectations. In this text, we will consider the wallpaper for forklift trucks, forklifts, lifting the operator and the load, with variable reach, as well as telescopic handlers and lorries. I invite you to read.

Our starting point will be to discuss the types of licenses issued to operate forklifts, and we will also recall the construction of the most common forklift truck.

Forklift license are issued in three categories: "III WJO" - certify the ability to operate guided and remote-controlled lift trucks, "II WJO" - authorise the operation of lift trucks with the exception of specialised equipment, and "I WJO" - these give the operator a basic qualification for the operation of lift trucks, including specialised ones: with the operator lifting with the load and with variable reach. Before taking the exam UDT, in order to obtain the licence you need to be familiar with the construction of the forklift truck, it is essential for safe operation and correct handling. The construction of a lift truck is as follows:

It consists of a device frame made of steel, its size and shape depend on the type of trolley, as previously mentioned, the reach trucks have a reinforced mast, and at the same time a stronger arm that allows them to lift and collect goods from a much higher height than other trolleys.

Another element is the chassis of the trolley, three-wheeled or four-wheeled, depending on the type of trolley, it provides it with better mobility, and these wheels must be properly adjusted, also depending on the model and the workplace.

Engine - most trucks are fitted with LPG engines, but also electric, battery, petrol or diesel trucks are used. The autonomy of the new type of trucks is characteristic, however, the commonly used trucks still require an operator, which will not change for a long time.

Reach forklift The previously replaced element, i.e. the mast - is a part in the form of a vertical frame on which an ambulance with forks is attached. Carriage - a faceplate that is connected to the mast, the forks are attached to it - designed to carry loads, they can have different dimensions, as well as additional equipment depending on the loads, for example barrels.

To complete the picture of the forklift's "full gear", mention should be made of the protective grille used to secure the loads during their movement. Which immediately directs us to the counterweight - it is located at the back of the trolley, which is responsible for maintaining the balance and stability of the trolley while transporting loads.

The last elements are related to the safety and comfort of work - the safety cage - protects the forklift operator against loads lifted and collected from high shelves. Providing comfort, safety and, at the same time, ergonomics, the operator's cabin - open, with a transparent roof facilitating visibility (depending on the model and adaptation to the needs of use), enclosed on the sides, protecting the operator, in the cabin there are tools to control the truck, including pedals, steering wheel, levers.

However, forklifts could not work and fulfill their functions if they were not equipped with hydraulic systems - these are responsible for the speed of lifting loads on the forks, and they also act as a brake, protecting the operator from falling loads in extreme cases.

The knowledge of the structure of the forklift trucks, which are commonly used when working in a warehouse, is obligatory for the operation of this device. This does not mean that it is not the case with other models, each operator should always get acquainted with its construction, operating conditions and technical parameters before starting work with a new truck, in order to avoid possible accidents. What is more, a forklift truck (fork-wheel truck) is a motor-driven motor vehicle, adapted to the transport of goods of considerable weight (even up to several dozen tons). We distinguish them from pallet trucks in that there is a place for the operator on them, and they are also equipped with a variable boom that allows you to maneuver with the load placed on the forks. On the other hand, the trolleys are easily steered using a drawbar, they do not take up so much space, they are able to carry a weight of up to three tons, and their maximum climb ceiling is 500 mm. For this reason, we most often find them in store warehouses, when transporting food products.

The booming online commerce and the overall development of the quality of service provided by delivery companies are supporting consumer demand. As a result, the number of orders increases, and thus the number of various types - from clothing to metallurgical castings - of goods stored in warehouses. In order to ensure the best functionality of the supervisory unit that oversees the organization of warehouse operations, additional spaces are needed, which most often will not be found in the full area. Where, then, can we find them? If it is not possible to widen the width or length of the magazine, look up. We use high-bay forklifts to develop hard-to-reach spaces higher than the others. They are characterized by a reinforced mast structure, thanks to which these trolleys have low capacity drops and long-term durability. They are adapted to the needs of the operator, designed in such a way as not to disturb the view during maneuvers and work ergonomics.

telescopic loader Loader with variable reach - telescopic, it is a forklift designed to transport larger objects. Most often it is used in construction works and in agriculture, its special design and greater power than the average forklift allows it to perform similar maneuvers with much greater weight. These are most often steel structures, concrete elements, aggregates, wood, straw, etc. To operate the device, the operator must have a certificate confirming his competence, about which we will tell you a few words post scriptum.

CSO Operator Training Centre deals with the education of candidates taking the UDT exam (Office of Technical Inspection) aimed at obtaining operator's qualifications, among others, to operate mobile mobile platforms. It is a school with many years of activity, with highly qualified staff and as many as 98 percent of satisfied customers. If you are interested in working as an operator or would like to expand your competences, or maybe you know someone willing, recommend us and visit our website training-udt.pl, where you will be able to see the entire offer of services provided by SPAs. You're welcome!
