Training for construction cranes - get qualifications together with SPA!

Operator Training Centre (SPA) has a course offer for you on construction, goods and goods-passenger lifts. Together with highly qualified staff, we have developed a training meeting the requirements of technical supervision and ensuring comprehensive preparation for the UDT exam. Our goal is to provide participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully pass both parts of the exam, both theoretical and practical. Our requirements are only: at least eighteen years of age, at least basic education and a certificate of no contraindications to undergo training in a given position. We invite all people interested in our training offer to read further, in which we will present the work of a crane operator and the form of our training.

Construction cranes are an indispensable part of any construction site when erecting large structures, with the largest type, widely used in building construction, being the construction crane. The largest hoisting device, available in various sizes, both height and width. They can be distinguished in terms of mobility, they are stationary cranes (constructed on the construction site), portable, mobile, automotive, self-propelled (with a rail or tracked chassis) or on-board cranes. The main parameter of the device, which we follow when determining its quality, is the maximum load moment. This machine can reach lifting heights of over 100 meters.

The basic parameters responsible for the efficiency and functionality of construction cranes are: lifting capacity, working moment, type of boom, lifting height. Most often, when buying or operating, users or owners of construction companies pay attention to these features. For this reason, the best reputation is enjoyed by proven companies with many years of activity on the market, meeting all safety requirements. Often, construction companies are not able to afford such a device, so they reach out to rental companies, which in the end turns out to be a much more appropriate option for them. What should we look at when renting equipment? First of all, on the quality of the crane, the company's reputation, its experience and ratings, and the general scope of the entire range - rentals with a wide offer are companies with greater customer confidence.

All construction cranes are subject to technical inspection, which certifies the efficiency of the equipment for functional work, i.e. vertical movement of people and / or loads. Due to these characteristics, we can distinguish: a passenger-goods lift (pot. Lifts) that moves both loads and people, or a goods lift, used only to move loads.

Workplace:

Goods lifts have been designed to transport loads to individual floors of buildings. Most often they are an independent, self-supporting structure, for the operation of which we use a control panel, for the operation of which you must have appropriate permissions. The most important parameter of the elevator is its lifting capacity, e.g. for goods and passengers, i.e. used to move people and goods, it is from 900 kg up. Cranes with high capacity already have structural elements attached to facilitate loading and unloading of goods with the use of forklifts, electric or pallet trucks. The power of the device comes from the drive of the EC actuators (telescopic with mechanical synchronization) or TCS (with narrow shafts). In various cases, a common solution is to install additional handrails to stabilize the floor during loading.

Construction:

For proper and efficient operation, knowledge of the structure of the operated machine is required; people and / or loads being moved are in cabins or on platforms moving along vertical guides (or at a slight angle in relation to the vertical). A crane (construction crane) is characterized by a different structure - this massive construction machine that allows the construction of skyscrapers, high-rise office buildings and buildings, due to its functions, requires obtaining other qualifications, about which we will talk more in the next paragraph. Cranes are constructed of a column and boom, the appearance and general use of which differ depending on the model. The column is often reduced to a swivel base on which there is a tilting boom with a telescopic structure. Most often, the boom is installed in two places: leaning at the top of the column, or pulled out inside the column with a lead placed on the top. A tractor is mounted at the end of the boom. The power necessary for the efficient operation of the crane is provided by several electric motors, which provide the energy needed to drive the chassis, swing the boom, swing the boom, move the pin and lift the hook. Without them, the operation of the machine would not be possible.

Further characteristics:

Due to the functions it performs, it is commonly referred to as an elevator or a lift - it is a machine that can be used to quickly and efficiently transport cargo (people or goods) on a platform or in a cabin. The guides mentioned earlier are inclined at a minimum angle of 15 degrees to the horizontal surface between the different storeys of the building.

By applying to the various elements of the structure, and thus the functions that a given lift performs, we can distinguish it into individual types, e.g. due to:

  • drive type: hydraulic and electric lifts, lift shaft structure: panoramic (open shaft), lift with and without a machine room,
  • construction of the drive mechanism: with and without a reducer, crane control method: external, internal, collective, group, adjustable, disposition control, lift structure: single and double cabin, intended for: passenger elevators, goods elevators, passenger and goods elevators, hospital elevators, construction, special.

UDT licenses for cranes are issued in two categories:

  • "DI" for construction lifts, they entitle the candidate to operate construction goods and goods-passenger lifts as well as goods lifts.
  • "D II" for goods and passenger lifts with internal control and hospital (authorizes to operate goods and passenger lifts with internal control and hospital lifts without cab load control).
