Training for construction cranes - get qualifications together with SPA!

Operator Training Centre has on offer for you - course for cranes construction, freight and passenger-freight vehicles. Together with our highly qualified staff, we have developed a training course that meets the requirements of technical supervision and provides comprehensive preparation for the UDT exam. Our aim is to provide participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully pass both the theoretical and practical parts of the exam. Our requirements are only: at least eighteen years of age, at least basic education and a medical certificate issued by an occupational physician. We invite all those interested in our training offer to read on, where we will present the work of a crane operator and the form of our training courses.

Construction cranes are an indispensable part of any construction site when erecting large structures, with the largest type, widely used in building construction, being the construction crane. The largest hoisting device, available in various sizes, both height and width. They can be distinguished in terms of mobility, they are stationary cranes (constructed on the construction site), portable, mobile, automotive, self-propelled (with a rail or tracked chassis) or on-board cranes. The main parameter of the device, which we follow when determining its quality, is the maximum load moment. This machine can reach lifting heights of over 100 meters.

The basic parameters responsible for the efficiency and functionality of construction cranes are: lifting capacity, working moment, type of boom, lifting height. Most often, when buying or operating, users or owners of construction companies pay attention to these features. For this reason, the best reputation is enjoyed by proven companies with many years of activity on the market, meeting all safety requirements. Often, construction companies are not able to afford such a device, so they reach out to rental companies, which in the end turns out to be a much more appropriate option for them. What should we look at when renting equipment? First of all, on the quality of the crane, the company's reputation, its experience and ratings, and the general scope of the entire range - rentals with a wide offer are companies with greater customer confidence.

All construction cranes are subject to technical inspection, which certifies the efficiency of the equipment for functional work, i.e. vertical movement of people and / or loads. Due to these characteristics, we can distinguish: a passenger-goods lift (pot. Lifts) that moves both loads and people, or a goods lift, used only to move loads.

Goods lifts have been designed to transport loads to individual floors of buildings. Most often they are an independent, self-supporting structure, for the operation of which we use a control panel, for the operation of which you must have appropriate permissions. The most important parameter of the elevator is its lifting capacity, e.g. for goods and passengers, i.e. used to move people and goods, it is from 900 kg up. Cranes with high capacity already have structural elements attached to facilitate loading and unloading of goods with the use of forklifts, electric or pallet trucks. The power of the device comes from the drive of the EC actuators (telescopic with mechanical synchronization) or TCS (with narrow shafts). In various cases, a common solution is to install additional handrails to stabilize the floor during loading.

To work properly and efficiently, knowledge of the construction of the machine being operated is required; the people and/or loads being moved are in cabins or on platforms that move along vertical guides (or inclined at a slight angle to the vertical). A different design is characterised by the crane (construction crane). This is the machine responsible for the construction of office buildings, skyscrapers and edifices - due to its different functions, it requires the acquisition of other qualifications, about which we will say more in the next paragraph.

A crane consists of a column and a boom, whose appearance, as well as their use, can be differentiated according to the type of crane. The column is most often reduced to a rotating base on which a pivoting boom of telescopic design is placed. The boom is mainly installed in two places, either pivoted at an appropriate angle at the top of the column, or in the middle of the column (in this case, a chief is responsible for its movement). At the other end of the jib is the linkage. In order for the crane to operate efficiently, it needs electric motors to provide the power it needs to do its job - most commonly used to rotate/tilt the boom, drive the undercarriage, lift the hook and move the jib. Without these, the operation of the machine would not be possible.

Further characteristics:

Due to the functions it performs, it is commonly referred to as an elevator or a lift - it is a machine that can be used to quickly and efficiently transport cargo (people or goods) on a platform or in a cabin. The guides mentioned earlier are inclined at a minimum angle of 15 degrees to the horizontal surface between the different storeys of the building.

By applying to the various elements of the structure, and thus the functions that a given lift performs, we can distinguish it into individual types, e.g. due to:

  • drive type: hydraulic and electric lifts, lift shaft structure: panoramic (open shaft), lift with and without a machine room,
  • construction of the drive mechanism: with and without a reducer, crane control method: external, internal, collective, group, adjustable, disposition control, lift structure: single and double cabin, intended for: passenger elevators, goods elevators, passenger and goods elevators, hospital elevators, construction, special.
