Cranes

Devices used mainly in internal transport are called cranes or lifting devices. They work primarily in intermittent traffic with a limited or unlimited range horizontally and vertically or in one of these directions. They are commonly used in construction, assembly and reloading works.

The basic components of cranes include:

  • supporting structure of the whole machine
  • drive mechanism, the task of which is to lift or shift loads and move cranes
  • slings individually selected for the type of cargo

Cranes are classified into several different types of equipment. The Polish Standard distinguishes the following of them:

  • tractor - the category of tractors includes winches, winches and winches powered by hand or with the use of motors
  • crane - colloquially called a crane, most often used on construction sites as a tower crane, also used in ports or in general work at heights in a self-propelled form
  • gantry crane - a hoist working to a limited extent on the track, suspended, bridge or gantry, is used for lifting, carrying and lowering loads
  • stacker crane - a machine designed for stacking loads, mainly used in logistics centers and warehouses
  • cableway crane - similar in construction to a cable car, built of trolleys on lifting ropes stretched between the towers

To operate the above-mentioned machines, it is necessary course for cranes specific types granting UDT qualifications. We encourage you to check the offer of our SPA Center!
