What is TDT?

To expand on the acronym, this is Transport Technical Supervision. Equipment that is used in long-distance transport falls under it. This could be equipment installed on trains or cranes at railway stations.

What is the scope of activities? Does it deal with?

Transport Technical Supervision includes:

UNO operation
  1. a technical device installed in the railway area, in railway running and in railway sidings;
  2. passenger and freight cable cars and ski lifts;
  3. tanks, including tanks used in rail, road and inland waterway traffic;
  4. technical equipment on seagoing vessels, except vessels where the technical equipment is under the technical supervision of a classification society, pontoons, docks and on the premises of ports and marinas;
  5. technical equipment in the process lines of the port transhipment bases and technical equipment constituting the equipment of other sites in the area intended for transhipment work.

    TDT course to operate UNO:

    The course gives us the qualification to fill and empty transport tanks with materials that are hazardous - hence the need for the course. To take the course, you must be at least 18 years old and have at least a vocational-technical education.

    The course is divided into theoretical and practical parts. It ends with an examination, which we must pass. The entitlement is granted for 5 years.

    Other options?

    In addition to UNO operating skills, TDT courses also offer us training in:

    other course options
    • operation/maintenance in terms of the wagon tippler;
    • handling/maintenance in terms of storage layouts;
    • operation/maintenance in the area of railcar pulling;
    • the transport of hazardous materials;
    • transport of hazardous materials - escort;
    • unloading of tankers and road tankers with hazardous material.

    There are quite a few courses related to TDT, so everyone can find something that interests them. Training courses are useful insofar as without them we won't be able to get a job in this area because it is work that is defined as dangerous. The courses are the basis and only after that you can start applying for jobs. There are a lot of them on the market and there are no problems with the number of places.
