Where are air compressors used?

Worker maintaining a compressor

Air compressors and compressors are devices with a very wide range of applications. Air compressors can be found wherever you need access to air at the right pressure. A gas station, car workshop or dentist's office are just a few places where devices that use air compressors are used on a daily basis.

However, in order to be able to safely carry out installation, maintenance and operation of various types of compressors and compressors, you must first complete the appropriate training. In Poland, compressors are among the devices under technical supervision. This means that in order to be able to work with them in the prescribed manner, you must first complete the relevant UDT training.

Who can take the Air Compressor Course?

In order to be able to take part in the UDT course ensuring the appropriate qualification services for work on the installation and maintenance of compressed air installations, it is enough to meet three basic conditions:

  • 18 years or older
  • Education at least elementary
  • There are no medical contraindications for working with air compressors

As you can see, the course for air compressors does not pose any special requirements to potential students. It is a good choice for people who are considering expanding their professional competences. A qualified employee is highly priced in the current market situation, so people who have completed the compressor course can count on attractive earnings.

What is the course for air compressors?

The training on air compressors consists of three parts: theoretical, practical and final exam before the UDT commission.

In the theoretical part, students receive information on the safe maintenance and operation of compressed air installations. This part takes the form of a lecture, during which course participants will learn about information such as:

  • Legal regulations for the operation and maintenance of air compressors.
  • Types of air compressors.
  • What condition should I leave the workplace with an air compressor in?
  • Technical documentation used in the maintenance and repair of the device.
  • Compressor capacity control and automatic pressure regulating mechanisms.
  • Health and safety regulations, operation and maintenance of compressed air installations.

The practical part is the next element of the training. Participants have the opportunity to practice the knowledge acquired in the theoretical part by carrying out activities related to the maintenance and operation of compressed air installations in controlled conditions.

The final part of the course is the final exam, which is passed before the UDT committee. Just like the training itself, it consists of a theoretical and practical part. In the theoretical part, students write an exam with closed and open questions to confirm their technical knowledge of air compressors. The questions in the theoretical part concern such issues as:

  • Classification of compressed air installations.
  • Fuel economy of air compressors.
  • Pipeline insulation.
  • Anti-corrosion agents used in the maintenance of air compressors.

Then, in the practical part of the course, participants must correctly perform a number of activities related to the operation and maintenance of the compressed air system before the UDT commission.

Obtaining a positive result in both parts of the exam provides students with qualification benefits that allow them to work on the operation, maintenance and repair of air compressors.
